Program Plans of Study

The Liberal Studies program is self designed so you will need to work closely with your academic advisor when developing your study plan and scheduling courses. Requirements for the major include:

  • Liberal Core (21 credits)
    A minimum of 3 credits each from the areas of Communication, Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. A wide range of course options, including online courses, are available.

  • Focus Area Requirements (30 credits)

    • A minimum of 27 hours in a discipline or disciplines (including current minors or emphases) related to the student's area of interest, including a minimum of 15 hours at the 300/400 level.

    • A minimum of 3 hours in a capstone course (seminar, individual research, special topics, practicum, field experience or internship).

  • Capstone Seminar (1 credit)
    LBST 450 Senior Self-Assessment is a fully online course that includes researching the job market for your chosen career area, practicing interview skills, and learning how to best market your degree through your resume and cover letters.
